Parent Orientation - Sunday, October 17th, 9:15am in the Upper Room Children's classes begin October 24th/25th
Mass of Confirmation & First Holy Communion will be
Saturday, May 21st, 2022 @ 4:30pm
Our Sacramental Preparation program at St. Peter Parish aims to deepen the relationship of love between families and Jesus Christ, who desires to share His life with us through the Church and the channels of grace by which He comes to us--the Sacraments. In the Diocese of Spokane, children who have reached the age of reason (typically 2nd grade) prepare to receive the Sacraments of First Penance (Reconciliation), Confirmation, and First Holy Communion during "SacPrep." This process, with Confirmation preceding First Holy Communion, is known as the "restored order."
Classes occur on a semi-regular weekly basis. We offer two options - Sundays between Masses (9:15 to 10:15 AM) or Monday evenings (6:30 to 7:30 PM). Some weeks, a parent or guardian will be asked to stay for concurrent adult formation sessions.
The first 6 sessions will consist of preparation for the Sacrament of Penance culminating in a half-day retreat, including reception of the Sacrament, during Advent. After Christmas break we will have two more multi-week preparation sessions, one each for Confirmation and Eucharist. Because of the intense nature of the Sacramental Prep program, it is helpful if children have completed at least one year of prior religious education, either through a Catholic school or parish religious education program, prior to registration.
For those older children and teens who only need to prepare for Confirmation, we can address that on a case by case basis. Please contact program director Michelle Oresky to discuss your specific situation and needs.
